Critical Care

A specialty concerned with the care of adult patients in the Intensive Care Unit setting, Critical Care nurses focus on patients in the most critical stage of their care. Patients will be admitted to the ICU under a variety of diagnoses. Here at Mount Carmel, the Intensive Care Units include a variety of specialties that provide a unique opportunity to advance your nursing practice.

Emergency Department and Trauma Care

Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Mount Carmel offers quality, comprehensive emergency medical care to more than 290,000 patients each year. As an emergency department nurse, you would work with our board-certified emergency physicians, other high-acuity nurses, on-call specialists and expert technicians. In our five emergency locations throughout central Ohio, nurses help our colleagues prepare for and treat almost every emergency situation.

Maternity/Infant Health

Having a baby is truly special, and it's our job to ensure that the experience at Mount Carmel is equally as special. Nurses focused on Maternity/Infant Health will join our expert team of colleagues in the Little Miracles® Maternity Program. Available at Mount Carmel East, West and St. Ann's, this program provides the utmost in care before, during and after pregnancy for mothers and their babies. Maternity/Infant Health nurses also assist with newborn stabilization, providing patient education, working with neonatal technology, monitoring high-risk pregnancies and more.

Medical/Surgical Services

This diverse field of practice is a specialty where new and experienced nurses alike can continue to develop their careers. Caring for adult patients both before and after surgery and with varied diagnoses, Medical/Surgical nurses work within a broad range of settings. This is a great way to develop important and fundamental skills in nursing, as well as an opportunity for experienced nurses to build on their knowledge and practice.

As a nurse in this field, you will work with patients within these highly specialized units, such as cardiac, vascular and surgical.
